How do I know if Telkom Mobile’s coverage is available in my designated area? 

Before purchasing any data product, a coverage check has to be done via the following link: http://www.telkommobile.co.za/coverage/ or SMS your address to 43482 (e.g. SMS ‘61 Oak Avenue, Centurion’ to 43482).

What device will I receive with the Internet Starter Pack?

A 3G USB modem is included.

When will I receive the data?

On the first day of every month.

How do I activate the Internet Starter Pack?

  • Make sure your SIM card has been RICA’d.
  • Remove the upper case of the modem and insert the SIM card. (Telkom Mobile will SMS your cellphone number to you once you have been registered for RICA.) 
  • Insert the modem into your USB port on your PC, laptop or notebook. 
  • Allow for the device drivers and modem dashboard to install.
  • Click on “Connect” to get started.

Is LTE available on the Internet Starter Pack offer?

LTE is enabled by default and subscribers can enjoy the LTE service dependent on LTE coverage availability and the use of an LTE capable device. Visit http://www.telkommobile.co.za/coverage/lte/ to check for LTE coverage.

Will I be charged the same rate for out-of-bundle data, once I’ve used all my in-bundle data? 

No, all out-of-bundle data is charged at a rate of R1.00 per MB.

Can I buy additional data bundles? 

Yes. You can buy all networks OR Telkom Mobile only bundles. All networks internet bundles work on both Telkom Mobile’s network and MTN roaming while Telkom Mobile internet bundles only work where there is Telkom Mobile coverage. Remember to check for coverage at http://www.telkommobile.co.za/coverage/.

How do I recharge my airtime? 

Option 1:

  • Buy a recharge voucher.
  • Dial *188*[RECHARGE VOUCHER PIN]# under the USSD tab on your modem dashboard.

Option 2:

  • SMS your recharge voucher PIN to 188, under the SMS tab on your modem dashboard.

Option 3:

  • Insert your SIM card into a handset/cellphone and dial 188.
  • Listen to the welcome message and follow voice prompts.
  • Use your phone’s end-call button/action upon completion.

Option 4:

  • Log in to the Telkom Mobile Self Service Portal at http://www.telkommobile.co.za/login/.
  • Purchase recharge airtime via EFT or credit card.
  • And/or redeem your recharge airtime PIN.

How do I purchase an internet bundle?

Please note: “All networks” means an internet bundle that is available for use on the Telkom Mobile network and on MTN roaming. 

“Telkom Mobile network” means an internet bundle that is available for use only on the Telkom Mobile network. You will need to ensure that you have coverage before purchasing any Telkom Mobile internet bundle. Visit http://www.telkommobile.co.za/coverage/ to see if your area is covered, or SMS your address to 43482 (e.g. SMS ‘61 Oak Avenue, Centurion’ to 43482).

Option 1:

  • Dial *180# under the USSD tab on your data modem dashboard.
  • Select Bundle Purchase.
  • Under the Bundle Type option, select Data.
  • Follow the on-screen display to complete your once-off data and/or Wi-Fi bundle purchase.

How do I check my airtime, data or Wi-Fi balance?

Option 1:

Log in to the My Telkom Mobile Self Service portal at http://www.telkommobile.co.za/login/ to view your data and/or Wi-Fi balance.

Option 2:

Send an SMS via your modem dashboard to 188 to receive your data and/or Wi-Fi balance.

Option 3:

Dial *188# under the USSD tab on your data modem dashboard.

Option 4:

Insert your SIM card into a handset/cellphone then dial *188# or send an SMS to 188.

How do I contact Telkom Mobile’s customer support line?

To contact the customer support line on 180, please remove the SIM card from your modem and insert it into a handset/cellphone device. 

Calls to the Telkom Mobile support line are only free from a Telkom Mobile number. You can also phone customer care on 081 180 from any other network, but these calls will be charged at applicable service-provider rates.

  • RICA shall apply.
  • Definitions:
    • “All networks data bundles” shall mean all networks internet bundles that are available on the Telkom Mobile network and MTN roaming.
    • “Telkom Mobile data bundles” shall mean Telkom Mobile internet bundles that are available only on Telkom Mobile’s network. Subscribers will be required to check for coverage at http://www.telkommobile.co.za/coverage/.
  • This promotional offer is available for a limited period only.
  • The Internet Starter Pack is a prepaid offering and will be provisioned on the current prepaid tariff plan.
  • The Internet Starter Pack shall consist of 2.4GB of data valid for 12 months.
  • The subscriber shall be allocated 200MB of data every month over a 12 month period.
  • Each data allocation will be allocated at the beginning of the month and will be valid until the end of that calendar month.
  • Unused data will not be carried over into the next month.
  • The first data allocation shall not be prorated and the subscriber will be awarded the full data allocation upon activation of the SIM card and the data bundle will expire at the end of the month.
  • The Internet Starter Pack shall include a 3G modem.
  • After the expiry of the 12th data allocation, the Internet Starter Pack will default to a prepaid SIM on the current prepaid default tariff plan.
  • SMS is enabled for normal usage, notification and balance enquiry.
  • Standard once-off internet bundles will expire at the end of the next calendar month from the date of activation.
  • This offer will only be offered on Telkom Mobile’s network, no roaming will be allowed. To check for Telkom Mobile coverage visit: http://www.telkommobile.co.za/coverage/ or SMS your address to 43482 (e.g. SMS ’61 Oak Avenue, Centurion’ to 43482).
